Thank you for visiting the Teri Zenner Memorial Web Site. This site was set up in memory of Teri, who was tragically killed while trying to make a difference in other's lives. The site was developed to show the world the wonderful life that Teri lived, to increase the nation's awareness about the violence that social workers face daily, and to spread the word about the Teri Zenner Memorial Scholarship.
The Teri Mathis Zenner Foundation for the Advancement of Social Welfare was
established this year. We are recogonized as a non-profit organization in
the state of Kansas and have filed for a 501 (c)3 application with the
federal government.
Thanks to so many of you we have endowed Teri's scholarship at the
University of Kansas! That means that the fund will continue to provide
scholarships to master's students in the School of Social Welfare for the
life of the university!
We are now working to endow the Teri Mathis Zenner Memorial Scholarship Fund
at Missouri Southern State University. Teri received a full softball
scholarship to Missouri Southern. This fund will provide financial
assistance for female student athletes who are seeking degrees from the
School of Education, and Departments of Kinesiology or Psychology.
In addition, some of the proceeds donated to the Teri Mathis Zenner
Foundation for the Advancement of Social Welfare will be used to sponsor
additional training and education for social workers and social service
workers in violence awareness, assessment and prevention.
Teri was a loving wife, step-mother, daughter,
granddaughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, daughter-in-law, niece, cousin, and friend to many. Teri was a dedicated social worker who was working for Johnson County Mental Heath Center and going to school at the University of Kansas to earn her master's degree in social welfare when she died.
We welcome you to browse through Teri's site and learn more about Teri, her family, her commitment to her profession and her zest for life.
