I am so sorry to hear of Terri"s death. I learned of her while researching compassion fatigue and secondary trauma among public child welfare social workers for my MSW program. My heart and prayers go out to her family and friends.

I just learned of Terri"s story from the International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), and the safety training law that the KS state legislature passed. My heart is full of Terri"s loss and the good that has been done in her name since then.

I knew Terri when we were growing up I played many games against Terri and even competed with here a couple of times. She was a wonderful person and a strong competitor. As a former college coach I often thought of her when deciding if I had a great recruit or not, because Terri is everything you would want in a player. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family.

It"s a same that she was taken from us in such a terrible way... WHat makes this even closer to my heart is, I actually lived right around the block from where the crime occured.. I drove by that day as they were arresting that boy... at the time i had no idea that it was Teri & i just found out today it was... I wish nothing but happiness for her family & know that you are always in my prayers... God has welcomed Teri into his arms & will allow no pain to be done to her...

I just left my message on facebook but wanted to leave the same one here as well..

i"m very speechless just to find out about Teri though seems like it happens awhile ago... :( I was an exchange student @ OSHS 93-94 and played OSHS softball team... Teri was also in my ENG class. She helped & taught me so much through class and softball although my English was very poor back then. after i left Olathe, we kept in touch for awhile but we lost contact since no email nor internet back then :( but I never forgot about her.. Years passed, my ENG got improved & I"ve been looking for Teri just wanted to tell her how much her friendship meant to me while I was in OSHS & "thank you" . THEN I just find out about her...

I still remember she always had such a beautiful smile as her photo. She was very patient to listen to my broken English and always cheered me up. she was also a great softball player who i really admire.

Teri.. hope you can hear, "thank you and you"re always in my heart!!"

Good afternoon. I am a APS supervisor who has growing concerns over the safety and well being of my staff while visiting clients in their home. Although Erie is a small town in comparsion, we are seeing an increase of violence towards our older adults and a blantant lack of respect to those of us trying to protect the very clients we serve. I will continue to look for training available to help us continue our task of protecting older adults of abuse, neglect and exploitation.

I knew Terri from Fry Wagner Moving and Storage. She was a sweet young lady! I didn"t see her after her summer there, but I thought of her often.I will never forget a time we went to OK for a packing job and a friend of hers came to see her at our motel. It was me Teri and brooke. We had a great time and she didn"t treat me like some old lady. She truly was a wonderful person.

For years I have wanted to contact you, but didn"t want to deal with her loss. I have been selfish long enough and would like to give you some pictures I have of Terri before you met her. I know what a remarkable person she was and I apologize for taking this long to contact you. Please e mail me and let me know where I can send her pictures. I think of Terri often; and wish I wouldn"t have let something so small end our frinedship. Another lesson learned, with deep regret. shey

I listened to Matt Zenner speak at the "It"s all About Safety" National Social Worker Safety Convention in Louisville this past October. Matt I commend you on all the work that you are doing to protect social workers like me. It is tragic that it takes the loss of someone as dedicated as your wife and Bonnie Frederick to get people talking about Social Worker Safety. My heart goes out to all of the family and friends of this dedicated and courageous social worker. She lost her life trying to help others. I have done a lot of research on Teri for a report that I will be giving. I am currently in a Masters level social work program so my accomplishments have added meaning now.

The Teri Zenner Social Work Safety Act is an act that is long over due and much needed for this profession and other professions dealing with at-risk populations. No one should have to die to help these individuals, but dying is a stark reality and possibility of helping mentally unstable individuals.

I have rallied all of my friends and congressmen/women to support this act. Teri"s life will not be in vain! I promise you that. It"s a very sad end to a beautiful woman but her legacy will live on in the lives of many social workers and other professionals. I love you Teri and thank you for spreading your light and love for too short of years. Your dedication in the field stands for itself.

God bless you, family members. My heart aches with you.

Teri"s husband, father and family will always be in my prayers. Teri was a co-worker with my son, Jason Porter. Teri was married in our church right in the spot where I preach every Sunday. I met Teri from a mutual friend (Shelly (Shey) Austin). We went out a few times and became good friends. We were both bridesmaids to Shey at her wedding. Teri was a wonderful, caring person and loved her career. I had lost touch with her a few years prior to her death. I was so sad to learn that a beautiful, caring, young, vibrant woman with a bright future ahead was killed. I think of her often and wanted to let you know that your family is always in my thoughts and prayers.

Mental Health professionals are special people with big hearts who put up with a lot;and go above and beyond their duty so very many times. My prayers are with everyone who has suffered through the loss. My prayers for all who are in the Mental Health profession they are heroic people.

I have been following this case for sometime and I am so sorry for the loss of Teri. I work in the court system and sometimes there are people that I deal with that you wonder if you should be cautious or not. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the entire family!!!

I hadn"t heard of this tragic event until an email was sent regarding the start of the trial. I wanted to offer my condolenses to the family and friends of Teri. We recently had a social worker aid die here in Kentucky, Boni Frederick, while she was taking a child to visit the parents. The parents murdered her. Thank you for creating awareness of the dangers that social workers face every day. Let"s not ever take for granted the wonderful people that do social work. They, like Teri and Boni, give of themselves and expect little in return. Let"s hope and pray that no others die like Teri and Boni. I am glad that Teri"s sacrifice is being used for good.

I grew up playing softball with Teri and was a good family friend. Although we lost touch during college, I thought of her always. My heart crumbled when I heard of the loss. My thoughts are with your family, always. So sad to lose such a wonderful soul.

Your loss cannot be measured, and you have my most sincere sympathy. I am also a case manager in Wyandotte County, and the work that Teri was doing I believe is essential to so many who"s lives would suffer without people like Teri working so hard to encourage and support them.
May the pain that must accompany the legal process and the tradegy of her loss be diminished in the celebration of her life and the special place she has taken among the many of us who hold her in our hearts.

I went to school with and was good friend with Teri at Missouri Southern. I have terrific memories of Teri and her smile, and road trips and football games and, most of all, just laughing. She could always put everone into a fit of laughter and had such warm and enthusiastic way about her.
She was at my wedding, at the hospital when my son was born....she was a phenomenal friend, someone who deserved a long and happy life.
My prayers are with Matt and the rest of your family.
Please keep us posted of a hearing date, I"m sure many people would like to attend in her honor.

I knew Teri in school as an undergraduate. We graduated in 1999 together from MSSC. She was a wonderful person and I was saddened to hear of her death. I am glad there is a memorial site and a walk coming up. She will be remembered for her great personaility and her drive to help others.

I knew Teri at Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, Mo. She was such a wonderful person, it made sense that she went into social work.

It"s such a tragic loss, but I hope that some important lessons are learned and that the bill is passed to protect other social workers.

She was my case worker for some time. I wall allready out of JCMH when she was killed. I remember when some of the people came and told me. I was shocked. Everytime I think of her I think of how I want to make that kid pay for what he did. She was a very good person. She told you how it was and how it should be and I respected her for that. I miss her.

I know this seems a little late but as I have been gone from Johnson County for quite a few years, I just found out about Teri two days ago. One of my old friends from high school told me. I went to school with Teri at Indian Trail and OSHS. I played basketball and softball with her. She was an amazing person and I am so sorry for the family"s loss. Even a few years later, please know that she is missed and is well remembered. My best friend from undergrad is a social worker and I asked her if she knew about the case and she said a lot of good has come from this tragedy. Great strides have been made in Teri"s name in the field. I"m still trying to get over the shock of it. I will always remember her smile. You are all in my prayers.
