Caring thoughts from a long-time social worker in San Jose. I work in a hospital now, but for years did home visits in a rural area, before cell phones were available. I look back, grateful that I never had a crisis. MaryAnn |

To Teri"s husband- thank you for working to make what happened to Teri be the last time that happens to a social worker. You could have dropped into despair, but instead you"re turning your grief into something positive to help other social workers, like me, to be able to help people without fear. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. |

I knew Terri from Fry Wagner Moving and Storage. She was a sweet young lady! I didn"t see her after her summer there, but I thought of her often.I will never forget a time we went to OK for a packing job and a friend of hers came to see her at our motel. It was me Teri and brooke. We had a great time and she didn"t treat me like some old lady. She truly was a wonderful person. |

This message is for Matt. My name is Shey Austin and I was friends with Terri years ago. We had a stupid falling out and lost contact with eachother. For years I have wanted to contact you, but didn"t want to deal with her loss. I have been selfish long enough and would like to give you some pictures I have of Terri before you met her. I know what a remarkable person she was and I apologize for taking this long to contact you. Please e mail me and let me know where I can send her pictures. I think of Terri often; and wish I wouldn"t have let something so small end our frinedship. Another lesson learned, with deep regret. shey |

I listened to Matt Zenner speak at the "It"s all About Safety" National Social Worker Safety Convention in Louisville this past October. Matt I commend you on all the work that you are doing to protect social workers like me. It is tragic that it takes the loss of someone as dedicated as your wife and Bonnie Frederick to get people talking about Social Worker Safety. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all you have done. |

I listened to Matt Zener speak to my social work class at MO Western State University in St. Joseph. He was phenomenal. As a social work student, the information that Matt had to offer was great. I feel for Matt and his daughter and only hope that Matt"s information can stop this tragedy from striking another family. My prayers are with Matt and his family. Thanks again Matt for such a wonderful eye opener to my world. |

My heart goes out to all of the family and friends of this dedicated and courageous social worker. She lost her life trying to help others. I have done a lot of research on Teri for a report that I will be giving. I am currently in a Masters level social work program so my accomplishments have added meaning now.
The Teri Zenner Social Work Safety Act is an act that is long over due and much needed for this profession and other professions dealing with at-risk populations. No one should have to die to help these individuals, but dying is a stark reality and possibility of helping mentally unstable individuals.
I have rallied all of my friends and congressmen/women to support this act. Teri"s life will not be in vain! I promise you that. It"s a very sad end to a beautiful woman but her legacy will live on in the lives of many social workers and other professionals. I love you Teri and thank you for spreading your light and love for too short of years. Your dedication in the field stands for itself.
God bless you, family members. My heart aches with you. |

Teri"s husband, father and family will always be in my prayers. Teri was a co-worker with my son, Jason Porter. Teri was married in our church right in the spot where I preach every Sunday. I often think of that. I remember the day of her wedding well. I am thankful for this memorial in her memory and the good that her family brings out of tragedy. |

I met Teri from a mutual friend (Shelly (Shey) Austin). We went out a few times and became good friends. We were both bridesmaids to Shey at her wedding. Teri was a wonderful, caring person and loved her career. I had lost touch with her a few years prior to her death. I was so sad to learn that a beautiful, caring, young, vibrant woman with a bright future ahead was killed. I think of her often and wanted to let you know that your family is always in my thoughts and prayers. |

I hadn"t heard of this tragic event until an email was sent regarding the start of the trial. I wanted to offer my condolenses to the family and friends of Teri. We recently had a social worker aid die here in Kentucky, Boni Frederick, while she was taking a child to visit the parents. The parents murdered her. Thank you for creating awareness of the dangers that social workers face every day. Let"s not ever take for granted the wonderful people that do social work. They, like Teri and Boni, give of themselves and expect little in return. Let"s hope and pray that no others die like Teri and Boni. I am glad that Teri"s sacrifice is being used for good. |

Your loss cannot be measured, and you have my most sincere sympathy. I am also a case manager in Wyandotte County, and the work that Teri was doing I believe is essential to so many who"s lives would suffer without people like Teri working so hard to encourage and support them. May the pain that must accompany the legal process and the tradegy of her loss be diminished in the celebration of her life and the special place she has taken among the many of us who hold her in our hearts. |

I went to school with and was good friend with Teri at Missouri Southern. I have terrific memories of Teri and her smile, and road trips and football games and, most of all, just laughing. She could always put everone into a fit of laughter and had such warm and enthusiastic way about her. She was at my wedding, at the hospital when my son was born....she was a phenomenal friend, someone who deserved a long and happy life. My prayers are with Matt and the rest of your family. Please keep us posted of a hearing date, I"m sure many people would like to attend in her honor.

She was my case worker for some time. I wall allready out of JCMH when she was killed. I remember when some of the people came and told me. I was shocked. Everytime I think of her I think of how I want to make that kid pay for what he did. She was a very good person. She told you how it was and how it should be and I respected her for that. I know this seems a little late but as I have been gone from Johnson County for quite a few years, I just found out about Teri two days ago. One of my old friends from high school told me. I went to school with Teri at Indian Trail and OSHS. I played basketball and softball with her. She was an amazing person and I am so sorry for the family"s loss. Even a few years later, please know that she is missed and is well remembered. My best friend from undergrad is a social worker and I asked her if she knew about the case and she said a lot of good has come from this tragedy. Great strides have been made in Teri"s name in the field. I"m still trying to get over the shock of it. I will always remember her smile. You are all in my prayers. |
